Idealism and Patience
At times I think I tend to be over-idealistic and impatient.
Sometimes I want everything to be just as I'd like it. And I'd like it that way now!
Today is one of those days when I have to remind myself that life isn't perfect, some days can be incredibly frustrating, and... well, sometimes things just don't happen as one expects they should.
I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say here, but on the subject of idealism, I'm reminded of a quote from Malcolm Fraser, a former Prime Minister of Australia, who said: "Life wasn't meant to be easy". I can't remember the context, but I think it's a good saying anyway.
And then there was Michael Palin who, on one of his TV travel journeys somewhere in Africa observed that life "just is" - there's no point in expecting it to be ideal.
And as far as patience is concerned, I guess I should remember that when I'm coaching young cricketers, I often emphasise how important it is for them to be patient during the game.
It's funny how sometimes you hear yourself imploring others to approach life in a certain way, and you realise that you should take notice of what you're saying for your own benefit.
That's enough philosophising for now.
