Another Win for My Boys
My own game of cricket may have been washed out yesterday, but today I had the pleasure of watching my charges win another game in the NSWDCA Cawsey Shield competition.
As their coach, when they are playing well, it is easy to lap up the congratulatory comments. Today was their fourth win in a row, this time against Manly who, as the second placed team, were hoping to knock the Central Coast team from their perch at the top of the table.
After 25 overs, Manly had restricted Central Coast to 2/62. But an ominous partnership was developing. Young Tristen McDonald, the skipper, and Jason Hayward took the game out of Manly's reach with a magnificent partnership of 135. Tristen was finally out for 65 whilst Jason batted through to be not out 85.
5/182 proved to be well beyond the reach of Manly who were all out for 130.
Ah, it's great when "my boys" make their coach look good!
Posted to Cricket, Personal by Keith Pittywell done mate, very nice work. the website for the Cawsey Shield is a bit scant on details, what age is it for? and how do you manage to travel to your own game if the kids are playing all over Sydney? Its hard enough for me and I have only to get from Canterbury to the Eastern Suburbs.
hope you're well anyway!

Cawsey Shield is for the Under 12 age group. They play on Sundays so it doesn't interfere with club cricket on Saturdays. And of course allows cricket tragics to spend all weekend playing or coaching (not to mention the odd beer afterwards)!
Posted by: Keith Pitty at December 11, 2003 5:37 PMah, heaven!
well almost, the weekend widow might get the shits I 'spose (if she's not VERY understanding that is ;-)
I'm still a bit sore after the weekend, we were in the field (lost the toss obviously - 34 deg) kept for the first two hours, then bowled 8-3-13-1 at the end, then opened for that bloody annoying 7 overs before close to be 13 not and had to wear a couple. Top stuff, but paying a bit.
The test match is looking awesome, dunno how I'm going to get much done today.
Posted by: Jed Wesley-Smith at December 16, 2003 8:50 AMWell done, Jed. It's worth the pain, especially if you're not out! Good luck this Saturday, mate.
India deserved to win the Test... I've got to hand it to Dravid - he displayed amazing powers of concentration and self-control. Tugga and his boys have a challenge now!
