Egalitarian Education

Education is vital. And, in my humble opinion, everyone deserves a good education. So it is unsurprising that Frank Moorehouse's article in today's Sydney Morning Herald struck a chord with me.

Moorehouse writes about how educational privilege is bad for society. Personally, whilst I didn't go to a private school, it is fair to acknowledge that I had a privileged secondary and tertiary education. But I firmly believe in supporting public education. I am saddened by the number of my peers who, having received a public education, are sending their children to private schools.

I for one think that our governments need to be fair dinkum about giving every child in Australia a fair go when it comes to their education. And my kids will be attending a local public high school.

Well said!

With both my parents and my wife teaching in public schools, and having been through the public system myself, my children will be doing the same.

Although I often hear of public school teachers sending their kids to private schools. That's like me doing Java at work but coming home to teach my kids .NET
