Spring and Hibernate Awareness

I was interested to read Keith Donald's post about a presentation Jeff Boring gave to a group of Forrester analysts about how he had used Spring and Hibernate to successfully simplify development and improve delivery time within a major corporation.

It would appear that the audience's awareness of Spring and Hibernate was minimal but that they were sufficiently interested by the message to ask quite a few questions. Fair and important questions too, like how does a development group know which framework to choose from the many on offer?

Anyway, please read Keith Donald's post if you want to know more. And, in general, he is a good source of knowledge about Spring because he is one of the developers.

My take on this is that Spring is non-invasive. You can use it for a specific purpose without being weighed down by a lot of framework baggage. And if it has been demonstrated to improve time to market, it makes sense to try it!

dear me, you've gotta be worried when someone called Jeff Boring is going to give a presentation, and pray nominative determinism doesn't apply in this case...

Well, it would appear that Jeff kept them awake. And, with a surname like mine, I am in no place to make jokes at his expense!
