Number four on his list struck a chord with me:

No matter how great you are, your career depends on communicating. The way to get better at anything, including communication, is by practicing. Blogging is good practice.

Practicing my writing skills has certainly been one of the major benefits I have experienced since I was cajoled into blogging more than a year and a half ago.
