US Middle East Hypocrisy

In today's news I read that the US has pledged humanitarian aid for Lebanon. This immediately brought to mind yesterday's article by Paul McGeough, in which he reported that "Washington is rushing to replenish Israel's arsenal of precision-guided bombs."

Just a tad hypocritical, don't you think?

The whole US and Australian response has been hypocritical IMHO. I wonder what the US/world response would be if Indonesia started to bomb Australia because we were "harbouring" terrorists and they said "hey we're only targeting the terrorists not you, this is not an act of war". It just seems very weird that our contries think it's OK for Israel to start bombing another country and for the US to go further and say there should be no cease-fire until "a mechanism on a global settlement before a ceasefire". I realise that there is history there and that the Hezbollah have a huge influence in Lebonon. I just wonder how other countries would react if this happened to them. It seems as though there is a different set of standards in that part of the world.

Daniel, I couldn't agree more.
