Wanted: Real Cricket!

Thank goodness that's over!

Now, comfortable in the knowledge that the Sydney Grade Cricket season has started, I can look forward to the middle of next month when the competition that used to be called the Sheffield Shield will start. And then, more comfortingly still, this Australian season's Test Matches against Sri Lanka and India will begin.

Call me old-fashioned but I can't take this new 20 Twenty stuff too seriously. On the other hand, if it was the more traditional annual Maitland ten-over comp (in which I recall playing in the 1980s), that would be different!

I'm with Peter Roebuck. Compared to Tests or any non-limited over affairs, T20 is silly stuff - but it is entertaining. One day cricket has become such a predictable thing, I like to think of T20 as one-dayers without the boring bits.

Hi Keith,

T20 is not a bad format, if you look from a fresh eye(take off those old glasses... )

It still needs a good strategy, captains needs to be on their toes all the time, batsmen need to pace their innings (and not just slog), bowlers need to be especially careful as batsmen are looking to score at a brisk pace ... i can go on and on ... :)

Moreover, as India is particularly good at this format, i have reason to be a bit biased.

It'll be good to see India play Australia in melbourne a T20 game ... clash of Titans :)
