at least you didn't get out on the field like the guy in the Shoalhaven who got struck by lightning and killed!!! damn!

Yes, I'm still alive and kicking. But I have to say that the sad news of the demise of bloke in the Shoalhaven struck a chord with me.

Having batted for twenty overs on Saturday, just before the bowler delivered the ball that resulted in my dismissal a bolt of lightning struck the ground in the distance, directly behind his bowling arm. A little disconcerting to say the least!

Perhaps my subconscious took over and ensured that I top-edged the ball to backward square who safely took the catch.

You generally go off if there is lightning around, but not if its miles away. The one that killed the bloke in the Shoalhaven apparently come out of the (almost literally) blue. It was bright and not very overcast, no-one thought there was any danger at all.
